Careers At CTS

At CTS, we’re proud to be part of Phenna Group a structure that not only strengthens our business, but also creates long-term career opportunities for our people. This week, we’re shining a light on how careers can progress from CTS into wider roles across Phenna Group, using the inspiring journey of Rebecca Parr as an example.

Rebecca joined CTS in 2020 as our Marketing Manager and quickly became an important part of the business. When Phenna Group acquired CTS, new opportunities opened up across the wider organisation, allowing her to grow, support more companies, and develop her skills even further.

Today, Rebecca is Group Head of Marketing & Communications at Phenna Group, but she continues to work closely with CTS supporting our marketing efforts and helping guide our communications from a group perspective. Her story is a great example of the progression pathways available to CTS employees and how careers can evolve with the right mindset, support and opportunities.

Growing Her Career at CTS

After being made redundant, Rebecca chose to view the change as an opportunity to invest in her development. She took a year out to complete her CIM Level 6 qualification a decision that deepened her marketing expertise.

Shortly after completing her studies, she was introduced to CTS through a recruitment agency and after interviewing via Teams during the pandemic, she joined CTS in December 2020 as Marketing Manager.

From the outset, Rebecca played an important role in accelerating CTS’s marketing efforts. She supported brand development, helped drive digital improvements, and brought a fresh level of structure and creativity to the function

From CTS into Phenna Group

When Phenna Group acquired CTS in 2022, it opened up a completely new chapter. Rebecca’s curiosity or “nosey nature,” as her husband describes it, led her to learn everything she could about the wider group.

Her enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed. She was soon invited to take on the role of Head of Marketing for the Infrastructure Division, supporting brands across the sector with websites, rebranding, digital strategy and communications.

In August last year, Rebecca progressed again into her current role as Group Head of Marketing & Communications, leading marketing efforts across Phenna Group globally.

Despite this wider remit, she still works closely with CTS supporting campaigns and advising on brand development.

What Keeps Rebecca Inspired & What She Wants Others to Know

For Rebecca, the most rewarding part of her role is the sheer variety it brings. “No two days look the same, one moment I’m supporting M&A communications, the next I’m working with teams in the US or Australia. I love being able to support so many different businesses and see their confidence in marketing grow.”

She’s especially proud of the marketing workshops she’s created over the years, covering everything from SEO to social media best practice. Watching teams put their new knowledge into action is, she says, “the best part of the job.”

“The more you put in, the more you get out,” she explains. “Be curious. Be consistent. And don’t let imposter syndrome stop you from saying yes to opportunities.”

Above all, she encourages people to choose work they genuinely enjoy. “Passion carries you further than you think.”
