CTS proudly opened its new state-of-the-art laboratory facilities today, Wednesday 17th July. Phil Marshall CEO of Phenna Group, cut the ribbon in the opening ceremony, whose investment made the laboratory a reality.
The new laboratory facilities will enhance CTS's existing testing capabilities, utilising cutting-edge technology and advanced methodologies to deliver a wide range of UKAS/MCERTS-accredited environmental chemistry and water microbiology testing services. This expansion is set to position CTS at the forefront of the industry, providing market-leading comprehensive testing services to clients across various sectors, including construction, the built environment, and water compliance.
In his opening speech, Phil Marshall expressed his enthusiasm for the project and its future for CTS:
"Today marks a significant milestone for CTS and the Phenna Group. The new laboratory is a testament to Phenna's commitment to investing in our group companies and testing excellence within CTS. Phenna Group is proud to be a part of this journey, and we are confident that this facility will drive progress and set new standards in the industry."
The operation will focus on advancing construction materials, environmental chemistry, and water microbiology testing services while offering market-leading turnaround times. This facility is designed to serve as a hub for pioneering testing services and supporting civil engineering projects as well as the wider construction industry. The newly added water microbiology testing capability is particularly noteworthy, as it will significantly benefit the building services sector, ensuring the safety and quality of water systems.
The laboratory has invested in the latest technology, including advanced instrumentation, to deliver client results. Specialist equipment will support our processes, ensuring best-in-class safety and environmental credentials. This advanced setup will support CTS in delivering high-quality testing services and catering to its clients' diverse needs.
The new laboratory, with its advanced technology and instrumentation, has created over 50 new jobs in Leicester. CTS is already a cornerstone of employment for the local area and actively recruits and nurtures local graduate talent from the two major universities. This provides new opportunities for young professionals and fosters innovation and growth in the region.
The investment from Phenna Group, a global leader in testing, inspection, certification and compliance services, underscores the strategic importance of this expansion. Phenna Group's support has been instrumental in bringing the project to fruition, providing the necessary support and resources to build a facility that meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Phil Marshall praised the new laboratory's potential impact on the region and its clients, commenting:
"The new CTS laboratory represents a significant step forward for the company. Not only is it creating high-quality jobs in the area, but it also enables them to better serve their clients with market-leading turnaround times for accredited testing services that clients can rely on time after time.
Commenting on the project, David Ratcliffe, Director of Analytical Services, shared,
"None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the CTS Team as well as the contractors working in unison. The investment speaks volumes to the progressive leadership of Paul Barry and the Phenna Group. They shared our vision and empowered us to deliver on these industry-leading laboratory facilities. We are immensely proud of everything that has been achieved to date and look forward to continuing this exciting journey."
The facility represents a significant step forward for CTS. With the backing of Phenna Group, the new CTS chemistry laboratory is poised to become a centre of excellence, driving innovation and setting new standards in environmental chemistry and water microbiology testing services.
