CTS opens new on-site laboratory for SEGRO Logistics Park – Northampton Gateway
Construction Testing Solutions (CTS), the UK’s leading provider of construction testing, geotechnical, structural investigation, calibration, and consulting services, has successfully opened its latest UKAS-accredited on-site laboratory.
After gaining further UKAS accreditation for our latest on-site laboratory, work commences supporting Winvic Construction Ltd and Collins Earthworks this week for the large-scale Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton Gateway.
The site located adjacent to J15 of the M1 will consist of a state-of-the-art rail freight terminal, including container storage and HGV parking, new road infrastructure, and approximately five million square feet of warehousing and ancillary buildings. The developed scheme is expected to generate in excess of 7450 jobs.
Work commences with CTS providing a comprehensive materials testing package for Collins Earthworks as they move over four million cubic metres of earth. Our UKAS-accredited purpose-built laboratory consists of four portable buildings and will be the base for our six-person team over a three-year period, delivering project management and rapid results turnaround essential to the earthworks program. During this time, we will provide British Standard testing, including in-situ density by nuclear method, Moisture Condition Values, and plate load tests to determine stiffness modulus and in-situ shear strength. Additional on-site laboratory testing will include Particle Size Distribution, Optimum Moisture Content/Maximum Dry Density, Particle Density, and Plasticity Index.
